Born on January 2, 1968 in Dzerzhinsk, Nizhegorodskoi region.
He received two degrees: Honours degree in Physics from Moscow State University named M. V. Lokonosova, and the Russian Academy of Economics, named G. V. Plekhanova.
In 1994, the 26-year-old Oleg Deripaska, headed one of Russia's largest Sayan Aluminum Plant in the East Siberian city of Sayanogorsk (Khakassia Republic). Under the direction of the youngest general director in Russia and third most powerful in the country, the electrolysis plant became the best in the industry in such key indicators as profitability, level of technology, product quality, environmental safety.
C 2001, he has been Chairman of the Supervisory Board of "Basic Element". From 1997 to 2001 held the possition of president of the company, "Siberian Aluminum". From 1994 to 1997 headed the Sayan Aluminum Plant.
He is currently a member of the Board of Directors formed by the fall of 2000 for the company "Russian Aluminum", the second in performance and capitalization in the world, accounting for 70% of Russian and over 10% of global production of aluminum products. Enterprises of "Basic Element" devote considerable resources to the implementation of measures to protect the environment, modernization of production technologies in order to improve working conditions, reduce waste and harmful emissions, and funding a "live" exhibit of the unique Baikal Museum of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
