New technologies at the service of future sports diplomats

15 May 2019

On May 13, almost 40 employees from 11 All-Russian Sports Federations and the Russian Olympic Committee began training under the programs "International Communications Management in Sports" (Sports Diplomacy) and "Professional Communication in the Global Sports Environment in English as the Language of International Communication". Among the listeners Gavrilov A.V. - Member of the Presidium of the Russian Karate Federation, A.I. Rumyantseva - Specialist of the national team at the largest international competitions of the All-Russian Athletics Federation, Samokhvalova S.A. - Executive Director of the Russian Triathlon Federation, Voronin L.G. - Director General of the Russian Handball Federation, Chernykh M.V. - Executive Director of the Russian Climbing Federation, etc. The programs are developed and implemented jointly with MGIMO (University) of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Olympic Committee. As always, the programs were finalized considering the wishes of the listeners of the previous cohort. But there are also fundamental innovations. This year, the Sports Diplomacy program is being implemented based on an interactive Internet platform WhenSpeak, developed specifically for this program, which, according to experts, makes it possible to effectively conduct educational events and significantly increase the effectiveness of the learners' assimilation of the material. Within the framework of the program, in addition to traditional disciplines, new ones will be taught - "Strategic communications in sports", "Social media and SMM technologies". Such well-known practitioners as S.B. Martynov are involved in teaching within the framework of the program. - expert on negotiations BROCA & WERNICKE, Pakhnotskaya M.A. - Deputy Director General of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency RUSADA and others.

A new textbook with expanded vocabulary of sports and medical anti-doping terminology has been specially prepared for the students of the MGIMO English language program. Teaching is conducted based on the First (leading) Department of English at MGIMO. As always, for this program, the listeners went through a rather tough competitive selection.
